How are flood waves formed?

vagues-submersion, submersion waves

How are flood waves formed? Flood waves can flood the coast and cause a lot of damage. These waves are linked to an extreme rise in sea level.

These waves-submersion result from the combination of several phenomena:

  • The intensity of the tide
  • The passage of a storm (weather surge)
  • An increase in the size of the swell
  • An increase in the force of the wind
  • The decrease in atmospheric pressure
  • The configuration of the seabed and the geography of the coasts.
