qualifies as a blizzard

A blizzard qualifies as a very intense version of blowing snow. Blowing snow is windblown snow with the appearance of fine powder.

A blizzard is a severe winter storm. It results from a conflict between the mild air coming from the south and the polar area descending from the Arctic. This storm is sometimes accompanied by snowfall.

During a blizzard, the average wind is at least 40 km/h, but gusts can reach 90 km/h. The wind also promotes the formation of snowbanks (drifts).
